The Cloud Gazer’s Caution

A knight dressed in armour
Steals out from the castle
Grey daggers under the moon
A wingbeat away from all of his answers
Searching for a truth to hold to

And her eyes are sweet incantations
Calling him to their subtle embrace
He’s lost from the moment
He dares to look into her
Lost in the light and the shade and the lake

People look for a meaning to life
But you look to a life for meaning
What if that road never comes into view
And after all of that searching
You’ve just holes in your shoes?

Travelling light with her ticket and fayre
A sweet wind called freedom plays with her hair
And you think you could find her
Just past the next town
Dancing with bare feet in a grey gown

Long after I’ve stopped looking up to the sky
I know that those clouds will keep passing by

At full tilt

(This is from the first time round with One More Windmill...)

Tilting into view
A galactic comet flew
Eyes spitting fire and flame
Burning into mine again
Meteoric rise
Across the skies
But the journey’s the same

One more windmill
And then it’ll be done
But the blades get sharper
And the nights get long
And out on the edge
Near the stars and the moon
Is the sad lilt of singular tune

One more windmill for these tired eyes
But the comet has stolen all of the skies
And out on the edge
Near the stars and the moon
Is the sad lilt of singular tune
